There are different types of visas depending on your age and the length of your course. The face-to-face teaching part of programmes at IFG are less than 6-months so you will need to apply for a Standard Visitor – https://www.gov.uk/standard-visitor
In order to apply for a Standard VisitorVisa, you will need:
IFG will support you during the process by advising on the supporting documents required and checking your application before you submit it.
Students from some countries may either not require a visa or be able to quickly apply for an electronic travel authorisation (ETA) from 8th January 2025. The ETA application only takes about 48 hours to secure. Please check https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa for details.
IFG can advise you on the visa application process but details can change so for current details, fees and application please always refer to the UK Visa & Immigration website.
After successfully completing your IFG Programme you will need to apply for another visa for your UK university study. Your university will advise you of the process and requirements once they have confirmed their unconditionaloffer of a place on your chosen course.
For university in the UK, you will need to apply for a Student Visa, which you will need to apply for when you are back in your country. You can find detailsof fees and the application process at https://www.gov.uk/student-visa
There is no English level requirement for a Standard Visitor Visa. However, for IFG programmes we do have English Language entry requirements – please see our Entry requirements page for details
When applying for a Standard Visitor Visa there are no specific financial requirements. However, you should remember to show that you have sufficient funds to finance your tuition fees, accommodation and other living costs as well as your return flight. Please refer to https://www.gov.uk/standard-visitor for guidance
Unfortunately, you are unable to work while studying at IFG because working is not permitted for international students studying at below degree level plus working is not permitted on a Standard Visitor Visa. However, if after your IFG programme you progress to university you can work up to 20 hours per week during term time 40 hours a week outside term-time.
You cannot extend a Standard Visitor Visa beyond 6-months and so will return home to complete your final IFG project. You will then be able to apply for your Student Visa for University, which must be applied for from outside the UK.
A Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) is a reference number that your university will send to you after they have confirmed their unconditional offer of a place. You will then be able to use your CAS to apply for you Student Visa.
